Tony Blair has signed a lucrative contract with a hedge fund that bet on the collapse of Northern Rock. The former Prime Minister has agreed to deliver four speeches for Lansdowne Partners, one of Britain’s biggest hedge funds. Alongside Bill Clinton, the former US President, Mr Blair commands the highest fees on the global speech-making circuit. While his spokesman refused to be drawn on the value of Mr Blair’s fee last night, it is thought that Lansdowne is paying him hundreds of thousands of pounds, report Suzy Jagger and Miles Costello in The Times
