Membership Services Sub-committee | Print |  Email

The Membership Services Sub-committee (MS S/c) leader is a BoT member with principal accountability for accurate recording of members’ data, ensuring access to such data in whatever form is necessary for efficient functioning of the Society.  Back up procedures are routinely updated.

In conjunction with other team members, the Membership S/c facilitates Data acquisition and provides Training / Administration (including Conference and AGM) / Correspondence / Fulfilment (once established) / Statistics and other services as required for a proactive system of membership.

The team must ensure timely and effective response to potential members’ enquiries, the welcome to new members, the timely issuing of membership cards and in conjunction with the Treasurer, tracking paying decisions, by BSO, annually or monthly. Ensures accurate recording of Life memberships and initiates renewal and final reminder documentation to the right persons at the right times. Provides accurate lists of members as required for the Board of Trustees and Local Group secretaries.  Transfers all payments received to the Treasurer.  Produces accurate membership statistics such as membership growth, demographics, geographical distribution and members’ skills, analysing them as required to facilitate sound decisions by the BoT on membership policy. When subsumed, monitors and advises on stocks at Fulfilment to ensure continuity of supply.  Provides support and development to existing and potential Local Groups, as membership clusters are identified.

The MS S/c leader must be well familiar with individual tasks so that in the case of absence, cover is quickly put in place. Ensures prompt liaison with the Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Webmasters and Local Group Secretaries on all matters affecting the efficient running of the Society.
