Following previous visits to Bathgate Academy where I was grilled by senior Religious Moral and Philosophical Studies students about Humanist Philosophy, I was invited to talk to all the pupils at Bathgate Academy during 3 Assemblies at the end of February. As the main plank of our education policy is to allow pupils the freedom to think for themselves, I chose the topic of Shared Values.

Every year Bathgate Academy 6th year pupils have an ethics conference to discuss the ethical issues of the day. For the first time (following a teacher’s exposure to humanism at a wedding) the HSS were asked to participate.
