Humanism is secular but embraces the core values of many religions: it is based on respect, tolerance, goodness, kindness and a concern for each other and this is reflected in our ceremonies.
Humanist ceremonies are very personal celebrations in the lives of the person, people or family at the centre of the ceremony. Our celebrants are highly trained to help people design the ceremony that is right for them at an important event in their lives.
We have a hundred celebrants spread across Scotland, most in the central belt, where the majority of the population is to be found.
We provide ceremonies under the headings of funerals, weddings and namings. These are umbrella headings and weddings e.g. cover renewal of vows, civil partnerships, hopefully in the future same sex marriages and non - legal weddings. Funerals cover cremations, burials, interment or scattering of ashes and memorial ceremonies.
What is important in arranging a ceremony is timing, we try to be available at the time of need but advance notice is helpful. Please try to contact a celebrant early in every planning process and be aware that our ‘high’ wedding season is very active.
