About Me

Background

I have spent the last 20 years in the IT business. During this time, I have mainly worked for a global company and am pleased to have achieved a very senior role. I have spent many years working abroad, but am now pleased to be spending more time in Scotland, the place I love best !

I have always balanced paid work with giving time and energy to the vountary sector and over the years I have chaired several sucessful charities.

I have significant public speaking experience, which has stood me on good stead in my role as a celebrant.

Interests

I am passionate about the outdoors - and am a keen sailer, runner and mountain walker.

Funerals

I trained and started delivering funerals in March 2009.

My main motivation for this was personal experience. I believe that people should have a choice in how critical ceremonies are delivered. Every-one should be able to celebrate key events in life without religious dogma.

It is a great honour to be able to help families, at their time of bereavement, and guide them through a funeral. Helping people deliver a fitting tribute to a loved one is one of the most important and rewarding things I have done in my life.

My Approach:

The day that you join in a civil partnership is your big day and I will do everything I can to ensure that it is a day that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Your ceremony is a unique opportunity to pledge your love and to express how you feel about each other and why you want to join the rest of your lives together. Your ceremony is for you and about you and I hope that I can assist you in creating something that reflects the depth of your feelings for each other.

The event may also be about your families and friends and I hope I can advise you how to best bring people together to celebrate the union.

Roll on the day that I can conduct a legal ceremony and not just an affirmation of the union !

Weddings

It is a real privileged to assist couples create a unique, meaningful and memorable ceremony for their big day.

My approach:
I like to ensure every couple has all the information they need to help them decide on the important parts of the ceremony. I can advise on the choice of music, readings, vows and symbolic gestures. I like to encorage couples to draft their ceremony themselves and I will knit it together ! Whether you want your wedding to be traditional or alternative I'm happy to help. I like the challenges of outdoor weddings and as a keen outdoor enthusiast, any 'reasonable' location considered !

Conducting weddings - why do it?
It is so rewarding to help you to have the wedding you really want. There are few chances in life to say publicly all the wonderful things you want to say to each other and to your friends and family on such a happy day.
