About Me

ABOUT ME

My professional background is in business skills training and running my own businesses. I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Humanism for me is to do with individual freedom and ethics, and helping to create a society where we are each enabled and encouraged to think for ourselves about beliefs and values. It is also about respecting the natural environment, and living a good life. The more I read and learn from the masters of antiquity and those of more recent times, the more I am affirmed in my values as a ‘humanist’.

My interest in philosophy led me to join the Humanist Society of Scotland and then I trained as a Celebrant. I travel south from my rural area to conduct ceremonies in Callander, Doune. Stirling and Glasgow. Living in Central Scotland makes for easy access to the A9 and the M8 so I also cover Tayside, Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.

I have been involved in training funeral and wedding celebrants and I am now a member of the Review Team which aims to review standards of professional practice for Celebrants and to share good practice.

BEING A WEDDING CELEBRANT

Your Ceremony for such a significant day in your lives is a beautiful opportunity to express who you are as individuals and in reltionship with each other and your family and friends. The time that we spend together planning your Ceremony is the beginning of a joyful process that will give you a day full of wonderful memories.

MY APPROACH TO WEDDINGS

We can meet to plan your Ceremony either in your home or in my home where we can take time to discuss what you would like, consider pieces of poetry or other readings, go over the legal requirements and have fun trying out some of the symbolic gestures and practicing the choreography too! All this can help you to get a feel for your Ceremony and my aim is for you to leave our meeting with big smile, a good idea of what your Ceremony will feel like, and a sense of excitement! I will keep in touch with you by phone or e mail and compose a personal Ceremony for you and then send it to you for your comments. All this preparation helps to make you feel confident and relaxed on your Wedding Day when I conduct your Ceremony for such a marvellous occasion with treasured memories. It is a very special moment when you become husband and wife.
